Faith Formation Classes

Classes will begin again in September.

Faith Formation Is a Lifelong Journey:

 REMINDER to parents:

Even after receiving First Communion and Confirmation, children continue to grow in their understanding of God’s love and their role in the Church. Faith Formation classes help to nurture that growth through prayer, learning, and community. We encourage you to bring your children to Sunday Mass as well as Faith Formation and Youth Ministry classes so they may continue their spiritual journey!

To Our Parish Members & Parents of Small Keiki:

The presence of children is a gift to the Church and they are a reminder that our parish is growing. Please welcome our children and give a warm, supportive smile of encouragement to their parents.

PARENTS RELAX: God put the wiggles in your little ones. No need to suppress it! SIT Close and Explain: Sit towards the front where it’s easier to see and hear. Quietly explain the parts of the Mass to keiki. Participate: Your child will follow your lead! Wander: If you need to leave Mass, feel free to step outside, but please be sure to come back! Your St. Michael’s Parish Ohana is happy you are here!

Neo Catechumenal Way Catechesis thru June 10

An Announcement of Joy!

What is the Mission of the Church? The answer to this question has already been given to us by the One who founded his Church, our Lord Jesus Christ. In the gospels he told his disciples that they are to be “the salt of the earth”; “the light of the world” and to be “like leaven”. The experience of human life is such a wondrous mystery experienced by every human being, yet we are all faced with great problems and crises that make us question the meaning of life. Saint John Paul II said there are two questions we must all ask ourselves which will help us face life: The first of these is “Who is God for you?” and the second is “Who am I and what am I living for?” The answer to these questions will lead us, not to an ideology or to some philosophical or theological answer, but on a journey of faith, a meeting, a personal encounter with Jesus Christ. You are invited to our Catechesis Series every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from May 11 until June 10. We will meet at 6pm in the Grace Parish Center

Men Grow in Faith Every Wednesday

Would you like to increase your spirituality with fellow men of our parish? Well, that opportunity is available to you every Wednesday! Our meetings focus on reflections on the prior weekend readings as we strive to grow closer to our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ and His church. We meet on the St. Michael’s South Lanai from 5:30-6:30PM. Join us!

Rosary Prayer Group Meets After Mass Every Weekday

Everyone is welcome to join! The Rosary is prayed after each weekday Mass at St. Michael’s. We pray for the needs of the parish and special intentions. If you’d like to add someone to the prayer list, please call the office.

Traveling Neighborhood Rosary Inspires Community Prayer

“The Holy Rosary not only serves admirably to overcome the enemies of God and religion but is also a stimulus and spur to the practice of evangelical virtues which it injects and cultivates in our souls. Above all, it nourishes the Catholic Faith, which flourishes again precisely in opportune meditation on the sacred mysteries, and raises minds to the truths revealed to us by God”. – Pius XI

Display the statue of the Blessed Mother in your home and invite your Catholic neighbors to pray the Rosary with your family. For more information, call Beth Smith at (760) 212-4533.

Five Steps for a Good Confession

1. Examine your conscience.

2. Be sincerely sorry for your sins.

3. Confess your sins to a Priest.

4. Resolve to amend your life.

5. After your confession, do the penance the Priest assigns.

Procedure in the Confessional

You say: “Bless me, Father, for I have sinned. It has been—(State the length of time) – since my last confession. These are my sins.

Then tell your sins and the number of times committed. When you have finished telling your sins, you should say:

“For these and all the sins of my past, I am truly sorry.”

The Priest now gives the necessary advise, assigns your penance and asks you to say the Act of Contrition. Then wait and listen as the Priest give the absolution. Say “Thank you, Father”, then leave the confessional and perform the penance assigned by the Priest.

Act of Contrition

“O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended You, and I detest all my sins, because of Your just punishments, but most of all because they offend You, my God, Who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Your grace, to sin no more and to avoid the near occasions of sin. Amen.
