On Catechetical Sunday, we reflect on the role that each person plays, by virtue of Baptism, in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel. We celebrate Catechetical Sunday to recognize and commission those who have been formally designated by their pastor to serve as evangelizing catechists. These men and women are committed to a life of prayer and Christian discipleship.
They strive to model eucharistic living in the rhythms of family and parish life as well as out in the community. And in doing so, they encourage others to do the same. We thank them for the tremendous gift they share with us. Lisa Gomes, Director of Evangelization and Catechesis in our diocese was present in the blessing.
Yesterday, Sept. 14th, was the National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children. A cupcake representing what would have been their birthday. Mahalo to our Respect Life Community for hosting this event after the 4pm mass this past Saturday.
Meet Mrs. Tanaka. One of the most influential people in Fr. Lio’s priesthood. According to Fr. Lio, Mrs. Tanaka guided and helped Fr. Lio fill out his application to the seminary. She’s visiting Kona with several of her classmates for their reunion and celebrated mass at St. Michael’s during the vigil mass. Mahalo, Mrs. Tanaka!
On your Birthday, our hearts overflow with gratitude for your untiring service and spiritual guidance. May this year be filled with happiness and blessings. We want to express our appreciation and admiration for the love and light you bring into our lives. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, FR. LIO!
If you have a photo of Fr. Lio you would like to share, please post it in the comments with your bday greeting. Mahalo!
