Bread for the journey, walking with the WORD This women’s retreat invites participants to slow down, listen deeply and walk alongside women of Scripture through guided reflection, creative prayer, and embodied practice. Participants will discover how one word, one gesture, or one faithful step can be carried home, nourishing everyday life as you are. Leave with bread for the journey. SAVE THE DATE: MEN OF FAITH RETREAT: Sat., Feb. 28th, 7am to noon Deacon Jerome Bettencourt was ordained in 2011 and served the Archdiocese of Los Angeles for 14 years as a deacon. He has worked as a catechist, retreat leader, and spiritual director. He recently retired from his career as a professional educator after 40 years of service. He moved to our island last August and currently serves the Diocese of Honolulu. Deacon Jerome is assigned to Sacred Heart Parish in Pahoa. He also serves as a Byzantine (Eastern Rite) Deacon for the Byzantine Outreach in Honomu. All Men of Faith of our parish and beyond are invited. St. Paul states, that when were baptized into union with Christ Jesus, we were baptized into his death. We were buried with him and lay dead, in order that as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we also might set our feet upon the new life of Christ. For if we have been incorporated with him in a death like his, we shall also be one with him in his resurrection (Rom. 6: 3-5).

Breakfast and Lunch will be provided. Our Retreat Leader is Father Joel Sember who was ordained a priest in 2007 for the Diocese of Green Bay, Wisconsin. He holds a B.A. in Philosophy and Catholic Studies from the University of St. Thomas, a bachelor's in sacred theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University, and a License in Sacred Theology from the Pontifical University Santa Croce in Rome. He is the author of Oriens, A Pilgrimage Through Advent and Christmas and he has completed over a dozen walking pilgrimages. He currently serves as pastor of four parishes in Wisconsin and is passionate about helping people grow closer to Christ through prayer.
